Underwater

Description

Please join us at Bellevue Park’s Circle, at dusk to see Underwater, an LED solar, battery powered installation as part of Bellwether 2018. From the water and in the grass of the Park’s Circle the lights from 131 road-markers map out two intersecting roads. Set at 35 degree-angle, parallel to Meydenbauer Bay, the lights signal the city's first street-grid. Like an "archeological dig" Underwater re-orients us all in time and space where once were the earliest city and the First Americans.

Underwater is part of Bellwether 2018 a ten-day art festival featuring new work by 50+ artists, daily performances and special evening events. This year Bellwether is curated by artist collective SuttonBeresCuller. More about the project in the City Arts magazine.

Underwater opens Friday, Sept 14th, with a reception at BAM from 6 - 9pm, and is on view extended through October 23, 2018. The lights are best viewed one hour after sunset, throughout the evening until sunrise. Bellwether is free and open to the public. Admission to Bellevue Arts Museum is also free during the run of the festival.
