Pieces of Desire (X) - Phosphorescent
Synopsis
In geometry, a tessellation is the tiling of a plane using one or more geometric shapes. These "tiles" or "pieces" are highly asymmetrical and assemble without spaces or gaps. The work illustrated here is the result of my current residency at Metrix Create: Space in Seattle. It is the first of a series of polychromatic, three-dimensional, puzzle-like tiles using tessellation geometry by rotational symmetry. In this residency, I will be developing projects that explore the tight relationship between design and art, crossing the lines between aesthetics, play and technology.
